Momcilo is the inventor of SHARP technology and Founder of SHARP Diagnostics. A 2024 Activate Fellow and former postdoc at Johns Hopkins Medicine, he brings deep experience in biophysics, enzyme engineering, and diagnostics. He leads SHARP’s vision, fundraising, and product development.
Tom earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics at Johns Hopkins and has over five years of experience in protein engineering and assay development. He leads SHARP’s R&D and scale-up efforts, combining molecular biology and biophysics to advance the technology.
Keith joined SHARP after completing his Biology degree at Johns Hopkins. He develops and optimizes amplification assays and helped produce SHARP’s first demo kits, bridging lab research with real-world applications.
SHARP Diagnostics began at Johns Hopkins Medicine, where Momcilo, working in the lab of Prof. Taekjip Ha, set out to simplify PCR by removing the need for thermal cycling. During his postdoctoral research, he engineered a helicase motor protein capable of separating DNA strands at a constant temperature — turning a long-standing lab process into a rapid, portable reaction. After publishing the breakthrough in Nature Communications and securing a patent, he founded SHARP Diagnostics to bring this technology out of the lab and into real-world testing — making molecular diagnostics faster, more accessible, and affordable for everyone.
